Riteish Deshmukh starrer Raja Shivaji is gaining a lot of buzz even before its release. The certification process of the film has been completed. The duration of the film is 3 hours 15 minutes and 5 seconds. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had directed the filmmakers to make two specific modifications to the film. After these modifications the film has been approved and given a certificate for the age group above 16.
Documents asked by the board
According to Bollywood Hungama, the certification process of Raja Shivaji was completed on April 24. The board’s scrutiny committee directed the filmmakers to rewrite the film’s disclaimer in clear words and add a voice-over to it. The filmmakers also had to justify the choice of the film’s title ‘Raja Shivaji’. He was asked to submit documents authenticating all historical references used in the film. Furthermore, the board asked for a copy of the film’s script that exactly matched the dialogues and songs featured in the film. The Board also directed the film production team to insert specific dates related to all major events depicted in the film. They were also asked to include text-based information cards (slates) to contextualize these historical events.

The board ordered two specific cuts to be made in the film. He ordered the scene of a small boy’s throat being cut to be removed and instructed the filmmakers to replace it with a suitable alternative scene. Additionally, the board requested audio be added to some scenes that were originally silent.
Film releasing on 1st May
It is noteworthy that Riteish Deshmukh has played the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Raja Shivaji. The film’s star-studded cast also includes Genelia Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Fardeen Khan, Bhagyashree, Sachin Khedekar, Amol Gupte and Jitendra Joshi. The film is scheduled to release on May 1, 2026.
