New Delhi: A delegation of the governing body of the country’s prestigious educational institution Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday. This delegation included India TV Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Rajat Sharma, SRCC Governing Body Chairperson Ajay S. Sriram, Justice AK Sikri, Vikram S. Shriram and other dignitaries were included. On this special occasion, the Prime Minister also released a commemorative postage stamp to commemorate the completion of 100 years of the college.

SRCC was established in 1920
According to the official website of the college, SRCC was established in the year 1920 on the day of Basant Panchami. At that time, 7 prominent businessmen of the country, led by Shri Ram, had established ‘Commercial Education Trust’. In the same year, the same trust started the first institution by the name of ‘The Commercial School’ in Charkhewalan, Chandni Chowk area of Old Delhi. In the year 1926, this institute got affiliation from Delhi University. After 6 years, it got the status of Degree College and BA (Pass) Commerce Group degree started being given here.
SRCC is counted among the leading institutions of the country.
With time the college expanded its courses. BA (Hons) Commerce Group was started in the year 1943. MA (Economics) course was also started in the same year. After this, Master’s degree in Commerce was started in 1948. In the year 1949, when B.Com (Hons.) course was started in Delhi University, SRCC also started this course at its own place. From then till today, this college is counted among the leading institutions for the study of commerce and economics in the country.
