‘Made in India’ iPhone boom, iPhones made in India are being sent abroad all over the world


‘Made in India’ iPhone is making waves all over the world. Apple is exporting iPhones made in India all over the world. In the financial year 2026, the Cupertino company’s export of iPhones made in India has crossed Rs 2 lakh crore. Apple started manufacturing iPhone for the first time in India in the year 2017. In the last 9 years, India has rapidly emerged as a global manufacturing hub for iPhone. Along with record exports of iPhone, Apple has also created more than 2.5 lakh jobs in India. The company’s marketing share in India has reached 9%.

The demand for iPhones made in India can be gauged from the fact that the company has exported iPhones worth Rs 2 lakh crore i.e. about $2 trillion in the financial year 2026. According to the report, 75% of the iPhone devices being sold in India are made in India only. Apple has exported a total of iPhones worth Rs 2.6 lakh crore, out of which about Rs 60 thousand crore iPhones have been sent to India and Rs 2 lakh crore iPhones have been sent abroad.

India has now rapidly become the largest manufacturing hub for Apple after China. Apple started manufacturing iPhones in India amid the trade war that started between China and America. In the year 2017, the company set up its first manufacturing unit in India. Earlier Apple started making only entry level iPhone i.e. iPhone SE in India. However, later the company also started manufacturing premium iPhones in India. Tata Electronics and Foxconn are assembling Apple’s iPhones in India.

Not only record exports, Apple has also created employment opportunities in India. About 2.5 lakh people work in Apple’s manufacturing units. 70% of this workforce includes women. More than 42,000 employees are working in manufacturing units like Tata and Foxconn. iPhones made in India are not only being exported to foreign countries, but Indian users are also liking iPhones a lot.

According to recent reports, Apple’s share in the Indian smartphone market has reached 9%. Especially iPhone 17 series and iPhone 16 series are being liked a lot in India. iPhone 15 series is also still in demand in India. People are buying iPhones because of the offers and easy EMI options given by e-commerce companies.
