A gang making fake accessories of OnePlus, Oppo, Realme has been busted in the capital Delhi. Crime Branch of Delhi Police has sealed two warehouses in Karol Bagh and Motinagar. More than 15,000 fake accessories have been recovered in these warehouses. Not only in Delhi, fake smartphones, earbuds, neckbands, chargers etc. are being sold in many cities of the country. How to check whether the smartphone is real or fake?
To check the authenticity of the smartphone, you have to use the IMEI number given on the box. IMEI number is an International Mobile Equipment Identification Number, which is different for every mobile. To identify fake IMEI numbers, the Sanchar Sathi portal or app of the Department of Telecommunications will have to be used. As soon as you enter the IMEI number given on the phone box on the portal, you will know whether it is valid or not. Fake IMEI number will not be searched on government portal or app.

How to identify accessories?
All electronics items sold in the market are certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards i.e. BIS. If any fake accessories like charger, neckband, earbuds etc. are being sold in the market, then they will not be listed on BIS. For this you will have to take help of BIS Care app or Umang app or you can also check it through BIS website. For this, R-No given on the box of accessories. That means the registration number will have to be checked. You can check the genuineness of accessories by using this number in BIS Care portal or app.
