Do not make this mistake while installing AC, otherwise you will have to break the wall!

Nowadays everyone wants to give a luxurious and ‘minimalist’ look to their home. To enhance the beauty of the house, people often hide the electrical wires and split AC pipes inside the wall. But do you know that this effort to keep the house looking clean can take a toll on your future budget and mental peace? A video of an architect is making a lot of headlines on social media, in which he has warned house builders to avoid this common but serious mistake.

Why is it dangerous to hide pipes inside the wall?

Often people get the copper pipe and drain line of the AC fitted inside the wall in order to have a modern look. According to the architect, this method seems good in the beginning, but with the passage of time it can become a big problem. If a leak or blockage occurs in a pipe over time, there is no easy way to fix it. You will have to break the entire wall to reach the pipe. This not only increases the repair cost, but also creates the hassle of dust, re-plastering and painting in the house.

Architect’s Smart Solution

To avoid the situation of breaking the wall, a very practical suggestion has been given in the video. The architect recommended creating an accessible pelmet or false box instead of driving the pipes inside the wall. 19 mm plywood can be used to make it. Its height can be kept around 18–19 inches and depth 6 inches (8 inches for double curtains). Pass the pipes inside this box and put gypsum board in front and putty and paint it. Due to this, this box appears to be a part of the roof and wall only.

What is people’s opinion?

There are mixed reactions from internet users on this video. While some people are considering this idea as excellent for future maintenance, some have also advised caution. Some users say that if the insulation of this box is not proper, then vibration sound may be heard when the AC runs. Additionally, some people have also expressed concern about fungus growing in the wood due to moisture.
