On one hand, tech companies are firing people because of AI, while on the other hand, companies seem to be troubled by the bill of AI. Artificial Intelligence i.e. AI is discussed all over the world. Tech companies are calling it the Next Big Thing and are laying people off their jobs. She is insisting on getting the work done by AI instead of humans. Companies thought that AI would be able to do more work than humans at less cost, but they did not think that this bet would backfire and they would have to spend so much for AI. Many companies have become worried due to the high bills of AI.
AI is quite expensive
According to recent reports, companies like Microsoft and Uber are now ready to move away from AI. Recently, Uber’s COO said that AI is very expensive and cannot be justified. At the same time, Microsoft has also decided to end most of the subscriptions of Anthropic Claude. The main reason for this is the expenditure on AI.
4000 crores spent in a month
According to a recent report by AXIOS, a company has spent about 500 million dollars i.e. about Rs 4,000 crore on Anthropic Claude AI in just one month. There was a stir in the company when so much expenditure was incurred on AI. When a senior official of the company came to know about AI’s bill, he became very emotional. His video went viral on social media, on which netizens also commented.

Anthropic AI
AI tool used without limit
The tech company had given complete freedom to its employees to use AI. Initially, this decision seemed right to the company because AI was doing many tasks easily. The company made a big mistake here and did not set limits on the use of AI. Employees started using AI tools indiscriminately. When the company got the huge bill for AI, the ground slipped from under the feet of the senior officials.
How does AI work?
AI can easily perform many everyday tasks, due to which its adoption has increased rapidly around the world. However, very few people know that asking a query on an AI tool incurs huge costs. The AI industry works on a credit system, in which tokens or virtual currency are given for the use of tools. The more the AI is questioned, the less the credit token gets.
Tech companies set a fixed budget for the use of AI. However, this credit wears off as employees use it. According to the report, Uber has exhausted the budget set for AI in 2026 in just four months. The company had set a budget of $3.4 billion for the entire year.
AI automatically generates multiple queries to complete a task. Due to this, the credit set by the companies gets exhausted. AI is spending hundreds of credits for the work, due to which companies are putting limits on it. AI may become more expensive in the coming future.
