Apart from being delicious in taste, it is also very beneficial for health. Makhana is rich in calcium, protein and antioxidants, while curd provides coolness to the stomach. Material

  • Makhana: 1 cup
  • Fresh curd: 2 cups (well beaten)
  • Roasted cumin powder: 1 tsp
  • Black Salt: ½ tsp
  • Rock salt or plain salt: ½ tsp
  • Red chilli powder: ¼ tsp
  • Chaat masala: ½ tsp
  • Finely chopped coriander: 2 teaspoons
  • Finely chopped green chilli: 1
  • Finely chopped mint leaves: 1 teaspoon
  • Ghee: 1 tsp (for frying makhana)
  • Pomegranate seeds: 2 teaspoons

Method of preparation

  1. First of all, heat 1 teaspoon ghee in a pan. Add makhana to it and fry on low flame for 3-4 minutes until they become completely crispy. After roasting, take them out in a plate and let them cool.
  2. Take 2 cups of fresh curd in a big vessel and beat it well with the help of a churner so that there are no lumps in it. If the curd is too thick, you can add 2-3 teaspoons of water to it.
  3. Add roasted cumin powder, black salt, plain salt, chaat masala and red chili powder to the whipped curd. Also add finely chopped green chillies, green coriander and mint leaves and mix everything well.
  4. Now add roasted makhana to the prepared curd mixture and mix gently so that the makhana absorbs the curd.
  5. Your tasty Makhana Raita is ready! Garnish it with some roasted cumin powder, red chili powder and red pomegranate seeds.
