Now there will be no need of sour cream to set curd, it will be thick and thick only with green chillies.

Sourdough is used to set curd. But do you know that you can make curd even without sourdough. If you have run out of sourdough in your house then you can also make curd from each chilli. Now you must be wondering how this is possible, then let us tell you, the stalk of green chillies contains bacteria called Lactobacillus, which has the ability to convert milk into curd. These enzymes present in the stalk of chilli coagulate the milk protein and thicken it. Well, in this article we will tell you how curd is made from green chillies and what is its correct process.

How to make curd with green chillies?

  • First step: Making curd with chilli is very easy. First of all, boil the milk and heat it. First boil the milk and then let it cool.

  • Second step: After heating the milk, cool it slightly. Until it remains lukewarm (light hot). Keep in mind that the milk should not be too hot.

  • Third step: Now, take 3-4 green chillies and wash them. Do not break the stalks of chillies, as the main bacteria are in the stalk itself. Put the chillies along with their stalks in milk and cover them.

  • Fourth step: Cover the vessel and keep it in a warm place like a closed oven or wrapped in a warm cloth for 10 to 15 hours. When the curd sets, take out the chillies.

Keep this in mind:

This process may take a little longer than for sourdough curd (about 8-10 hours or more). Frozen curd may be slightly sour due to chillies. The natural bacteria present in green chillies (on the stalk) can help in fermentation. If you don’t have sourdough, this can work as an emergency trick.
