Yami Gautam shared a long post after the announcement of National Film Awards 2024, in which she said that for her, getting the National Film Award is not just like adding another name to the list of her films. Calling it the fruit of his years of waiting, he recalled his faith in his work and also told why ‘Article 370’ was so special for him.
What did Yami Gautam say?
Yami Gautam wrote in her post – ‘There comes a moment in every journey which reminds you why you did not give up even after so many difficulties. Today is that moment for me. Receiving the National Award for ‘Article 370’ is an honor which I will remember for my entire life. In these fourteen years, I have just tried to be honest towards my work and have always worked with integrity and let my performance speak for itself. And this honor is the result of that hope, dedication, courage and my unwavering love for cinema.
Had dreamed of winning National Film Award for years
Yami further wrote in her post- ‘This was a dream which I had cherished for years and today this dream has been fulfilled. I accept it with all love, gratitude and humility. ‘Article 370’ was never a normal film for me. This was a story that I believed in from the bottom of my heart. It was our home production film, which makes this honor even more emotional and personal. Every conversation, every moment on the set of this film was driven by a purpose. The aim was to convey the story to the people with complete honesty and complete confidence.
Told the jury thank you
In her post, Yami thanked all those including the jury, who were with her in this journey. Yami further writes- ‘Thank you to the respected jury for this honour. Thank you to our visionary director, wonderful cast, crew and every member of the audience who loved and embraced ‘Article 370’ with complete confidence. You reminded us that meaningful stories find their way to the hearts of the audience. Thank you to my family, team, well-wishers and everyone who believed in me through all the ups and downs. This would not have been possible without your trust. You gave me courage when my destination seemed far away.
This film is the beginning of a big responsibility
Yami wrote in the end of her post – ‘This award is not the end of a dream, but the beginning of a big responsibility. Responsibility, to keep moving forward, to take risks, and to tell stories that matter. Dreams do come true, but only if you and your passion never give up. This award is for all those dreamers who are still waiting for their special moment. Never stop believing.’
