Director Ahmed Khan’s film ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ has been in the news since its release due to its huge star cast. This film led by Akshay Kumar has a total cast of 34 veteran actors. Recently, during an interview, Ahmed Khan made a big revelation and said that Bollywood’s ‘Sanju Baba’ i.e. Sanjay Dutt was also an important part of this film and he had also shot some scenes, but at the last moment he had to walk out of the project.
Due to this reason Sanjay Dutt walked out of the film
Talking to News 18, Ahmed Khan said, ‘Sanjay Dutt liked the story of the film very much and was very excited to be a part of it. Many of his old friends like Jackie Shroff and Akshay Kumar were also involved in the film. We had also completed shooting some portions with him, but later there was a problem of dates. He suddenly had to go to America for his treatment. Since there were so many actors in the film, it was not possible for me to move back and forth the dates of everyone else.
Sanju Baba himself found replacement for himself.
Sanjay Dutt not only left the film, but also found a solution himself to ease the problems of the makers. Ahmed Khan told, ‘Baba, showing his big heart, called Sunil Shetty himself and requested him to play the character which Sanjay Dutt himself was going to play. Along with this, he requested Jackie Shroff to play the role which was earlier in the credit of Sunil Shetty. In this way he created an excellent alternative to his absence, for which we will always be grateful to him.
The film was a profitable deal in terms of earnings.
The performance of ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ at the box office has been quite satisfactory. The film has so far collected ₹72.25 crore nett and ₹85.67 crore gross collection in the domestic market. Its story revolves around some gangsters and strange characters who get trapped in a forest near the border and then begins a journey of comedy and adventure. The film stars many big names like Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi and Disha Patani.
Director’s big claim regarding budget
Talking about the budget of the film, Ahmed Khan said that the total expenditure of the film including star cast, action and songs was between ₹115 crore to ₹125 crore, which also includes the interest amount. He claimed that the film had recovered its cost by selling digital, satellite, music and overseas rights even before its release. In such a situation, whatever income is earned from the box office is direct profit for the makers.
