Infection spread in Rajesh Sharma’s leg due to insect bite on the sets of ‘Fauji’, AICWA raised the question, ‘Why did the production house not take him to the hospital?’

A tragic accident has happened with veteran actor Rajesh Sharma on the sets of South Superstar Prabhas’ upcoming film ‘Fauji’. During the shooting, his health deteriorated after being bitten by a suspected insect or poisonous spider, after which he was admitted to the hospital. This incident has once again raised serious questions on the security arrangements of the cast and crew during film shooting. Meanwhile, All Indian Cine Workers Association has demanded a high level investigation into this matter.

How and where did this accident happen?

According to a statement shared on social media by actress Sudeepa Chatterjee on behalf of Rajesh Sharma’s family, the incident took place at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. After the shooting was over, Rajesh Sharma was talking to local technicians in an area surrounded by dense trees and bushes. During this time he felt an insect bite on his leg. Since the matter did not seem serious initially, he did not pay much attention to it and did not seek any medical help immediately.

AICWA raised questions on security and order

After this incident, All India Cine Workers Association President Suresh Shyamal Gupta has expressed his displeasure on the social media platform X. He raised the question that when Rajesh Sharma’s condition was getting so bad on the set, why did the producer or production house not immediately show him to a big hospital in Hyderabad? Were emergency medical facilities available on the set? The association has expressed deep concern over the lack of hygiene, unsafe working environment and lack of medical facilities in the film industry.

Demand for investigation from government and compensation from manufacturers

AICWA has appealed to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to conduct a high-level investigation into this entire matter so that it can be clear whether there was any negligence in safety rules on the part of the production house. The association has also demanded that the producer of the film ‘Fauji’ should bear the entire cost of the treatment of Rajesh Sharma.

Health deteriorated during journey, condition still critical

About six hours after the insect bite, Rajesh Sharma’s pain started increasing. He started having severe pain in his right leg and started feeling uncomfortable. Despite this he caught a flight to Kolkata. During the journey he developed high fever and became very restless. As soon as he reached Kolkata, he was immediately admitted to Manipal Hospital in Dhakuria. At present he is under the strict supervision of doctors. The infection has spread from his toes to his knees, causing large blisters on his feet. According to doctors, the danger is not over yet because there is a fear of blood clot formation due to infection, which can be fatal if it reaches the lungs.

Found support from loved ones in difficult times

On behalf of Rajesh Sharma’s family, Sudeepa Chatterjee has thanked the media, Bengal Motion Pictures Artists Forum and fans for supporting them in this time of crisis. He especially thanked veteran actor Prosenjit Chatterjee, who has been continuously guiding and supporting the family during these difficult times.
