Hema Malini became emotional remembering Dharmendra, also paid tribute to Asha Bhosle


Hema Malini paid tribute to late actor Dharmendra and singer Asha Bhosle at the grand inauguration of ‘Lens and Legacy: Bollywood in Focus’ exhibition at the National Gallery of Modern Art on Thursday. While interacting with the media during the event, Hema Malini recalled Dharmendra’s contribution to the Bollywood industry and said that the late actor had won millions of hearts with his work. Ma Malini said, ‘I have paid tribute to Dharmendra ji, and that is why I am here. He has done great work for the industry. He has touched the hearts of millions of people with his acting.

Asha Bhosle also remembered

He also paid tribute to singer Asha Bhosle, calling her the golden voice of the industry. Hema Malini also remembered Bhosle’s contribution to her career. Hema Malini said, ‘Renowned singer Asha Bhosle is no longer with us. His voice was golden. He sang songs in many of my films. They were legends (Dharmendra, Asha Bhosle). One of the most beloved voices of the night, Asha Bhosle passed away on April 12 at the age of 92 due to multiple organ failure. Earlier this month, he was cremated with state honors at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park crematorium. Many stars including Vicky Kaushal and Aamir Khan attended the funeral. Asha Bhosle, daughter of classical singer and theater actor Pandit Dinanath Mangeshkar, entered the world of music at an early age and has created a unique legacy.

Dharmendra died in 2025

Composer R.D. Asha Bhosle with Burman is counted among the most celebrated collaborations of Indian cinema. His iconic songs include ‘Piya Tu Ab To Aaja’ and the rebellious song ‘Dum Maaro Dum’. Talking about Dharmendra, the actor passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving behind a huge legacy spanning over six decades. Known for his charismatic presence, gentle smile and versatility, he was considered one of the most iconic actors of Indian cinema. His work includes classic films like ‘Sholay’, ‘Chupke-Chupke’, ‘Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke’, ‘Aai Milan Ki Bela’ and ‘Anupamaa’.
