Jio’s 1600 LEO satellites will provide fast internet, will the service start soon?

Jio’s satellite internet service may start soon. The country’s number-1 telecom company has taken an important step towards indigenous satellite internet service. The company’s 1600 LEO i.e. Low Earth Orbit satellites are considered technically completely correct in space and as powerful as Elon Musk’s Starlink. IN-SPACe, the organization that oversees space affairs in the country, has approved these satellites of Jio.

These satellites of Jio have been investigated by three big institutions of the government, IN-SPACe, ISRO and Wireless Planning and Coordination Wing (WPC) of DoT. In the test, these satellites of Jio have completely passed all the parameters. These can be sent to space soon, after which Jio’s satellite based internet service can be started.

Reliance Jio’s approval of these LEO satellites means that soon India will have its first LEO satellite network ready in space. This will benefit the country’s security and strategic military needs. At present, Elon Musk’s company Starlink dominates LEO satellites. These satellites of SpaceX are providing internet service all over the world. After the installation of indigenous satellites, India’s dependence on foreign satellites will reduce.

Preparing to dominate the satellite market

The country’s largest telecom company aims to disrupt the satellite internet market in terms of subscribers. Through these satellites of Jio, internet speed of 4.5 to 5 terabit per second will be available. Elon Musk’s company currently has approval to provide internet service at the speed of 600 gigabit per second in India. At the same time, Amazon is also planning to provide internet at the speed of 3 terabit per second in India.

20 to 22 ground stations will be built

Reliance Jio is about to enter the field of satellites. Along with fixed satellite service, the company is also working on mobile satellite service like direct-to-device. For this, 20 to 22 ground stations will be prepared in the country.
