Jaun Elia was the most famous, influential and out-of-the-box Urdu poet of the twentieth century. His real name was Syed Jaun Asghar. He is known in the history of Urdu poetry for his unique style, outspokenness, and for portraying loneliness and pain on pages. Jaun Elia was born on 14 December 1931 in Amroha, India. He belonged to a highly educated and literary family. Much after the partition of India in 1947, i.e. in 1957, he moved to Pakistan. However, the memories of Amroha and India never left his heart, and this pain is clearly reflected in his poetry. Jaun was not just a poet, but he was a great scholar of Arabic, Persian, philosophy and history. Jaun’s style of reading Mushaira was very different. He used to spread his hair, wave his hands in the air and speak in a very aggressive and dramatic manner, which people liked very much. His poetry is still alive in the hearts of people. In such a situation, read the famous Shaari of John Elia Saheb here.
