Amla hair oil or coconut oil, which oil is effective in making hair black

Beautiful, thick and shiny black hair is everyone’s desire. But due to today’s busy life, pollution and bad eating habits, hair starts turning gray before time. In such a situation, when it comes to keeping hair naturally black or preventing premature graying, the first two oils that come to our mind are Amla hair oil and coconut oil. But the question is, which of these two oils is more effective in blackening the hair? Let us know.

Amla Hair Oil

The black color of hair is due to a pigment called melanin. When melanin production decreases due to increasing age or lack of nutrition, hair starts turning white. Amla contains rich amounts of Vitamin C and antioxidants. It eliminates free radicals from the scalp, which are the main cause of graying of hair. Apart from this, Amla maintains the natural pigment of hair and makes the newly growing hair dark and strong from the roots.

coconut oil
Coconut oil is a great conditioner for hair, but it does not directly darken the hair. Coconut oil contains lauric acid, which penetrates deep into the hair shaft and prevents protein loss. It protects hair from dryness and makes them shiny. However, it does not directly play a role in blackening gray hair, rather it improves the overall health of the hair.

Who is more powerful?
If your main objective is to darken hair or prevent graying, then Amla hair oil can be more beneficial than coconut oil. In Ayurveda, Amla is considered as ‘Keshya’ i.e. nectar for hair.
