Balasore: A very sensational murder case has come to light from Balasore district of Odisha. Here a man killed his own friend on suspicion of having illicit relations with his wife. After the murder, the accused buried the body in the ground so that no one could get a clue of this incident. However, the entire matter came to light in the police investigation and after about 21 days, the body was recovered by digging the ground.
This incident took place in Jamuna village of Nilgiri block of Balasore district. The deceased has been identified as Birendra Behera, resident of Jamuna village.
What is the whole matter?
According to the information, after the sudden disappearance of Birendra Behera, his wife Savitri Behera had lodged a complaint in the police station on May 31. It was alleged in the complaint that Birendra’s friend Biren Madhei had called him and taken him somewhere, after which there was no trace of him. The police registered a complaint and started investigating the matter. Many shocking facts came to light in the initial investigation.
It is being told that there was a very deep friendship between Birendra Behera and Biren Madhei. Both were considered close friends of each other. But meanwhile, the alleged illicit relationship between Biren Madhei’s wife and Birendra Behera came to light.
There was a dispute in the village earlier also regarding this matter. The matter had escalated so much that a Panchayat had to be convened in the village. A compromise was also reached between the two parties in the Panchayat and an attempt was made to end the dispute.
However, it is alleged that even after the agreement, resentment remained in the mind of Biren Madhei. He also threatened to kill Birendra many times.
It is being told that on May 25, through a phone call, Birendra Behera was called to Kaptipada for the work of driving a dumper. Birendra left home in the hope of getting work. But on the way he was allegedly kidnapped near Jamuna Chowk. After this there was no trace of him.
When Birendra did not return home, the family members became worried. Later his brother also lodged a complaint with the police and a search was started for him. During the investigation of the case, the police became suspicious of Biren Madhei. The police took him into custody and interrogated him. After continuous interrogation, the accused broke down and revealed the entire matter.
What did the investigation reveal?
Investigation revealed that Biren Madhei had taken Birendra to his in-laws’ house. There he murdered them. After the murder, the body was buried by digging a pit in the ground to hide it. According to the preliminary investigation report, after the murder, the body was taken to a secluded place in Udala area of Mayurbhanj district and buried in the ground so that no one could get information about this crime.
Police reached the spot at the behest of the accused. The land was excavated in the presence of the magistrate and Barampur police. During the excavation, the decomposed body of Birendra Behera was recovered. Further legal process was completed by taking possession of the body. The condition of the body had deteriorated because it had been buried in the ground several days ago.
The police have arrested the accused and intensified the investigation into the case. Police are trying to find out how the murder was planned, who else were involved and how the entire incident was carried out from kidnapping to burial of the body.
