While talks are going on between America and Iran regarding a peace agreement, attacks on each other are also continuing. The US military on Monday night attacked missile launch sites in southern Iran and Iranian boats laying mines in the sea. In response, Iran shot down an American Reaper drone.
On the other hand, Israel launched ten attacks on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon within half an hour, killing more than 12 people. People are still being searched from the debris. US President Donald Trump has said that he has stopped attacks on Iran for the time being following the request of the leaders of Gulf countries.
The effect of peace efforts between Iran and America was visible in India. The value of the rupee improved. Rupee strengthened against dollar. The price of one dollar at present is Rs 95.69. The stock market improved. On Tuesday, an increase of Rs 2 per kg was announced in the price of CNG, which means CNG has become costlier by Rs 7 in the last 11 days.
On Monday, oil companies increased the price of petrol by Rs 2.61 paise and diesel by Rs 2.71 paise per liter. Petrol diesel prices have increased for the fourth time in 11 days. Petrol crossed Rs 100 per liter in Delhi. Opposition parties launched sharp attacks on the government over the increase in oil prices. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the prices of crude oil had started increasing with the attack on Iran, but the government itself bore the entire burden of supply chain breakdown for two and a half months and gave Rs 1 lakh crore to the oil companies. Since the crisis has prolonged, there is no option except increasing the prices.
The question is that when we have sufficient reserves of oil then why are the prices of petrol diesel increasing. I talked to many experts. He says that since the war started in the Middle East, the price of crude oil in the international market has increased by 40-45 percent. Since we import 90 percent of our crude oil, the rising crude oil prices put pressure on our foreign exchange reserves. Oil companies suffered losses of up to Rs 1,000 crore every day for two months. That is why now the prices of petrol diesel are being increased.
The question is that now the prices of crude oil have fallen. On this, experts say that oil companies make deals for future supply. The crude oil purchased at today’s price will take a month to reach India. Now the question is whether petrol and diesel will become cheaper after a month? The answer is that if there is peace in the Middle East and the supply chain is in order, then oil prices can also come down. But there will be peace only when an agreement is reached between America and Iran.
The whole world wants Trump to make a deal with Iran and the war should stop completely because this fight of ego has caused harm to the whole world. Trump also wants the matter to be resolved soon but America neither wants to appear weak nor bow down. Even today the situation is such that neither Iran lost nor America won. Trump wants to make a deal but wants to change this narrative of victory and defeat. He wants the world to say that there is no one like Trump.
UCC in Assam: Exemption to tribals
In Assam, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s government introduced the Uniform Civil Code Bill in the Assembly. With the implementation of this law, the laws of marriage, divorce, inheritance and adoption will be the same for people of all religions in Assam, there will be a ban on multiple marriages, it will be mandatory for live-in couples to register and information about separation will also have to be given to the government.
The Uniform Civil Code will not apply to the tribals of Assam. In all religions except tribals, the age of marriage for a boy should be at least 21 years and for a girl 18 years. People of all religions will have the right to marry according to their traditions and customs, be it Hindu, Muslim, or Sikh, but marriage registration will be necessary for everyone. If a married person marries a second time, he can be punished with imprisonment of up to seven years.
If someone marries fraudulently or forcibly by hiding his identity, he will also be imprisoned for seven years. Those who commit child marriage will also be punished with a minimum punishment of two years. If someone divorces his wife illegally or the divorced woman is forced to undergo Halala before remarriage, then those committing such acts will be punished with jail for three years and a fine of Rs 1 lakh.
The exclusion of tribals from UCC was welcomed by tribal leaders across the country. As far as the issue of UCC is concerned, a lot of questions were raised when UCC was implemented in Uttarakhand. It was even said that the police would peep into the houses of those living in live-in, the rights of tribals would be taken away, but all these things proved to be baseless. Secondly, it was ensured that those who mislead the tribals and convert them to religion will be banned. Now UCC will also be applicable in Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. There are a large number of tribals here also. Therefore, it is important that the original identity of the tribals is maintained.
Bakrid: Be careful about sacrifice
Before Bakrid, security was increased in residential societies of Mumbai. Police is doing flag march. Bouncers have been deployed outside many societies. Devendra Fadnavis’s government has issued strict guidelines for sacrifice on the day of Bakrid. According to the government order, if anyone slaughters a cow on the day of Bakrid, a case will be registered against him under MCOCA, there is a ban on sacrifice in public places, there will be no sacrifice inside societies.
The government is making security arrangements but during this time Maharashtra Minister Nitish Rane advised for virtual sacrifice on Bakrid. There is resentment among Muslim organizations due to this. Nitish Rane said that those who suggest Hindus to celebrate dry Holi, why don’t they advise virtual sacrifice on Bakrid. Nitesh Rane may say the right thing, but his way of saying it is not in keeping with the dignity of his position. It is not right for the minister to use such language.
As far as enforcement of rules and regulations on the day of Bakrid, security arrangements are concerned, it is the responsibility of the government. People must follow government instructions. No one will support open sacrifice. Who will support spreading filth in public places? Therefore there is no harm in stopping it. Cow slaughter is legally prohibited, hence action against those who slaughter cows is also justified. But there is no need for the minister to speak for this.
Yogi Adityanath has implemented strict rules in UP also. Yogi has instructed the police to take action against those who do not follow the law. Same should happen in Maharashtra also. There is no need for Nitish Rane to speak on this. (Rajat Sharma)
