Defense Research and Development Organization i.e. DRDO and Indian Air Force on Tuesday successfully flight tested Rudram-II missile from airborne platform. Rudram-II missile is an air-to-surface missile. DRDO has informed that the missile was tested in extremely difficult conditions in which the critical trajectory was determined to ensure the capability of all the sub-systems.
According to the information revealed, the missile was accurately delivered to the predetermined target after being launched. The flight data obtained from various range instruments installed by the Integrated Test Range (ITR) located at Chandipur has shown that all the objectives of this test have been achieved.
His contribution in making missiles
Rudram-II missile has been indigenously developed by DRDO’s Nodal Laboratory, Research Center Bhawan, Hyderabad. The development of this missile has also been supported by other collaborating laboratories like Defense Research and Development Laboratory, High Energy Material Research Laboratory, Armament Research and Development Establishment and ITR. Apart from this, Development Cum Production Partners (DCPP), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Regional Center for Military Airworthiness, Missile System Quality Assurance Agency and many other industries have also contributed significantly in achieving this goal.
What is the specialty of Rudram-II?
Rudram-II is an indigenously developed solid propellant air-launched missile system, which is capable of destroying a variety of enemy targets. Many state-of-the-art indigenous technologies developed by various DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) laboratories have been incorporated in the Rudram-II missile system.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has also congratulated DRDO and Indian Air Force on the successful test of Rudram-II missile. The Defense Minister has appreciated the efforts of DRDO, Indian Air Force, Defense Undertakings, Defense Undertakings and Industry for the successful testing of the missile. He said that this test has demonstrated the increasing maturity of indigenous defense technology. This contributes significantly to self-reliance in advanced weapon systems.
