A shocking case of fraudulent registration of the land of the famous Palani Dandayudhaswamy temple of Tamil Nadu has come to light, three private people together got 1.4 acres of land situated at the foothills of the hill registered, as soon as this crime was discovered, the TVK government led by C Vijay Joseph came into action, Dindigul District Registrar Sasikala and Palani Sub Registrar Justin, who got the documents registered. Manigandan has been suspended.
Court ordered to cancel the registry
Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on Wednesday, taking cognizance of the FIR lodged by the Registration Department with the police on July 13, ordered the cancellation of this registry. Also, State DGP Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal on Wednesday ordered to hand over the case of irregularities related to Palani Temple land to Crime Branch-CID. After the theft of offerings in Ram temple came to light, irregularities in many religious places have come to light.
What is the whole controversy?
According to the information, this land is used by the temple management for free parking. According to the documents, this land was transferred to the name of Dandayudhaswamy Swami Math about 100 years ago. But a person named Murugadoss fraudulently sold it to two people named Vellaidurai and Sethupathi. This temple is under the HR and CE i.e. Hindu Endowment Department of the government. Last year itself, the temple management had received information that a person named Murugadoss, who claimed that this 1.4 acre land was the land of his ancestors, was planning to sell it.
Several letters written to the Registrar’s Office
In the last one year, several letters were written by the temple management to the District Registrar office in which it was informed that this land should not be registered. These three had also tried to register this land in the month of March but the registrar at that time rejected it, calling it temple land. With this refusal slip, all three of them approached the court and took an order from the court that if the documents are correct then the registration can be done before April 10. The temple management says that during this time these accused hid the matter of transfer of the temple from the court.
Transfer of person who refuses to register
Now there was another twist in the story, on July 1, the sub-registrar who had refused to do registration in March was transferred. The sub-registrar who replaced them took charge and the next day, on July 3, all three tried to register again. The sub-registrar also put it on pending saying that the documents would be verified and he went on leave from 4th July. Justin Manigandan came on duty in his place and on July 6, Murugadoss got the land registered in the name of Vellaidurai and Sethupathi.
Government assured action
There was an uproar after this news came out. Justin Manigandan has said in his clarification that he had no knowledge about the case history. Now that his name has been involved in this controversy and he has been suspended, he has applied for anticipatory bail to avoid arrest. The TVK government has expressed confidence that the entire truth will come out in the CB-CID investigation and whoever is involved in this conspiracy will be given the harshest punishment.
