Devastation due to rain in Assam, flood like situation in many areas, Amit Shah assured help


Due to heavy rains in Assam, a flood like situation has arisen in Dhemaji district. Rivers are in spate and a railway bridge has been damaged by heavy erosion. Due to this, rail connectivity has ended in many areas. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah talked to Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. During this, he took stock of the flood situation and talked about providing all possible help. Himanta has also shared many pictures of the flood, in which the railway bridge damaged due to erosion is also visible.

Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote in the X Post, “I thank Honorable Home Minister Amit Shah for calling me and asking about the flood situation in Dhemaji. I have informed him about the relief and rehabilitation measures being carried out here. He has also assured us of all possible help from the Government of India to deal with this situation.”

Government keeping an eye on flood situation in Dhemaji

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma on Sunday said the state government is mobilizing all resources to provide relief and long-term rehabilitation to the flood-affected people in Dhemaji district. Meanwhile, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) reported that a railway bridge has been damaged due to heavy erosion. Due to this, train operations between Archipathar and Simen Chapri stations have been suspended till further notice.

Government is collecting relief resources

Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on ‘X’, “I have been continuously monitoring the situation since the flood situation arose in Dhemaji. We are deeply saddened by the impact of this disaster on the lives of the people and we stand strongly with them in this difficult time.” He said that the state government is mobilizing all resources while giving priority to the safety and long-term rehabilitation of all the affected families. The Chief Minister said that Water Resources Minister Sushant Borgohain and Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Keshab Mahant have been instructed to stay in Dhemaji and monitor the entire relief work. “We are making every possible effort to reduce the impact of floods,” he said.
