New EV Policy implemented in Delhi- Know what are the conditions to avail subsidy and scrapping incentive.


Delhi The new EV Policy has come into effect from today. For this, Rekha Gupta government of Delhi has also issued a notification on Wednesday. Delhi’s new EV policy will be applicable from July 1, 2026 to March 31, 2030. The Delhi government has implemented a new EV policy with the aim of reducing air pollution in the capital, under which petrol and diesel vehicles are to be phased out and electric vehicles are to be introduced. Let us tell you that the Delhi Cabinet under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had approved this new EV Policy 2026 on June 29.

The car must be purchased and registered in Delhi

Under Delhi’s new EV policy, all electric vehicle purchase incentives (subsidies) will be distributed through direct benefit transfer to individual buyers/owned firms/agencies/companies who are residents of Delhi and the vehicle is purchased in Delhi and registered in Delhi. For this, beneficiaries will have to apply directly for subsidy claims through the mechanism notified by the Transport Department of Delhi. Under the policy, only models approved and empaneled by the committee will be eligible for subsidy under this policy.

Application will have to be submitted within 30 days from the issuance of RC.

Application for purchase incentive will be submitted within 30 days from the date of issue of Registration Certificate (RC). Disbursement of eligible subsidy amount will be made within 60 days from the date of submission of application on the digital portal subject to verification and fulfillment of applicable requirements.

Electric two-wheeler subsidy

On two-wheelers, only those vehicles whose ex-showroom price does not exceed Rs 2.25 lakh will get the benefit of subsidy. Under the policy, a maximum rebate of Rs 30,000 will be available in the first year, a maximum of Rs 20,000 in the second year and a maximum of Rs 10,000 in the third year.

Delhi government wants to replace CNG running autos in the city and introduce electric auto rickshaws. For this, as an incentive, the government will give a subsidy of Rs 50,000 in the first year, Rs 40,000 in the second year and Rs 30,000 in the third year on electric three-wheeler autos. E-autos with battery capacity less than 4 kWh will not get the benefit of subsidy.

Delhi government will give a subsidy of Rs 1,00,000 on electric trucks with gross weight more than 1.75 tonnes and Rs 50,000 on electric trucks with gross weight less than 1.75 tonnes in the first year. In the second year, this subsidy will reduce to Rs 75,000 and Rs 37,500 respectively. Similarly, in the third year these subsidies will reduce to Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.

100% rebate on road tax and registration fees

All electric vehicles purchased and registered in Delhi with ex-showroom price up to Rs 30 lakh during the policy period will be provided 100% exemption from road tax and registration charges for their entire lifetime. No exemption from road tax and registration fees will be provided to all electric cars with ex-showroom price more than Rs 30 lakh.

Under Delhi’s new EV policy, Rs 10,000 will be given as scrapping incentive for scrapping old two-wheeler and buying a new electric two-wheeler, Rs 25,000 for three-wheeler, Rs 1,00,000 for cars up to Rs 30 lakh. The benefit of scrapping incentive will be available only when you scrap your old vehicle and buy a new electric vehicle.
