Huge decline in Reliance’s market cap by ₹ 1.34 lakh crore, 9 out of top 10 Sensex companies suffered a loss of ₹ 3.12 lakh crore.


West There was an uproar in the domestic stock market last week due to increasing geopolitical tension in Asia, sharp rise in crude oil prices and weakness in the rupee. Due to the huge fall recorded in the market, the market cap of 9 out of the top 10 Sensex companies decreased by Rs 3.12 lakh crore last week. Let us tell you that last week the 30-share Sensex index of BSE fell by 2090.2 points or 2.7 percent, while the Nifty recorded a catastrophic fall of 532.65 points or 2.2 percent.

Airtel’s market cap increased amid huge decline

During this period, Reliance Industries suffered the most losses. Apart from Reliance, the market cap of State Bank of India (SBI), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Bajaj Finance, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Hindustan Unilever and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) also declined. Therefore, investors of all these companies had to suffer huge losses. On the other hand, in the last week of huge losses, only one company out of the top 10 Sensex – Airtel, saw a rise in its market cap.

Huge decline in Reliance’s market cap by ₹1.34 lakh crore

During this period, the market cap of Reliance Industries declined by Rs 1,34,445.77 crore to Rs 18,08,420.81 crore. The valuation of State Bank of India declined by Rs 52,245.3 crore to Rs 8,88,862.32 crore. The market value of Tata Consultancy Services declined by Rs 47,415.04 crore to Rs 8,19,062.65 crore. Bajaj Finance’s valuation declined by ₹27,892.28 crore to Rs 5,66,717.74 crore. HDFC Bank’s market cap declined by ₹20,630.01 crore to ₹11,82,069.25 crore.

Airtel’s market cap increased by Rs 42,470 crore

Apart from these, the market cap of ICICI Bank declined by Rs 14,290 crore to Rs 8,92,385.39 crore. Larsen & Toubro’s market cap declined by ₹9,078.87 crore to ₹5,37,542.34 crore. The market valuation of Hindustan Unilever declined by Rs 3,970.8 crore to Rs 5,33,592.18 crore. The market cap of Life Insurance Corporation of India declined by ₹2,182.12 crore to ₹5,05,367.32 crore. Whereas, Bharti Airtel’s market cap increased by Rs 42,470.13 crore to reach ₹11,60,525.16 crore.
