Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a major and new change in the central contract system of its players. Now Pakistani players will not get contracts on the basis of grades like A, B, C or D. Instead, players will now be given contracts on the basis of which format they specialize in (Test, ODI or T-20). In the new rules of PCB, this new category has been named ‘Format Tracks’. During a press conference, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, coach Aaqib Javed and Mike Hesson announced this new central contract system.
PCB will give maximum importance to test playing players
This new system of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is divided into four different tracks. The first is Track A, in which only those players who are specialists in Test cricket will be kept. After this, Track B and C. Both these tracks are for those players who are experts in white ball games, i.e. ODI and T-20 formats. Whereas in Track D, only those players who play in T-20 and franchise leagues around the world will get a place. In its track system, PCB will give maximum importance to Test playing players and they will get very less opportunities to play in foreign leagues.
Mohsin Naqvi gave information through press conference
In the press conference held on June 15, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that earlier there was always a controversy regarding the category of contracts given to the players. Many times the players themselves were unhappy and disappointed with the categories decided. To eliminate this bias, PCB has now created a new system. Under this new rule, 85% of the decisions on awarding contracts will be taken solely on the basis of computer statistics and players’ performance instead of an individual’s likes and dislikes.
Team selection will be based on computer data
PCB has made a big change in the way it selects the team. Now the players will be selected not on anyone’s choice or recommendation, but on the basis of their playing records and computer data. 85% of the decision in selecting the team will be based on computer data, while the role of likes and dislikes of the selectors will be limited to only 15%. PCB believes that with this new and digital method, bias will be completely eliminated and there will be no injustice to any deserving player. With this, only the right and talented players will get a chance to move forward.
