MI got a shock, captain and star players did not reach Dharamshala with the team, suspense remains on fitness

Mumbai Indians: The troubles of Mumbai Indians, which are continuously struggling in IPL 2026, are not showing any signs of decreasing. The team, which was out of the playoff race, is now worried about the fitness of captain Hardik Pandya. Hardik was not seen traveling with the team before the match against Punjab Kings in Dharamshala, which has deepened the suspense regarding his playing in the next match.

MI reached Dharamshala

Mumbai Indians players and support staff reached Dharamshala on the afternoon of May 11, but team captain Hardik Pandya was not part of the group. The absence of Hardik, who was suffering from back spasm for the last two matches, has increased the concern of the fans. However, sources associated with the team say that Hardik’s hopes of playing the match are not completely lost yet. According to the Cricbuzz report, it is being told that his injury is being continuously assessed by the medical staff in Mumbai and if needed, he can leave for Dharamshala later.

Interestingly, even before the last match, Hardik had joined the team late, but in the end he did not become a part of the playing eleven. There is a lot of speculation on social media about his fitness, however, team sources have clarified that the matter is only related to injury.

Suspense on Hardik’s fitness

This season of Hardik has also not been special so far. He has scored only 146 runs in eight matches, while taking only four wickets in bowling. In such a situation, his absence can prove to be a big blow for the team. At the same time, Suryakumar Yadav has also not reached Dharamshala with the team. However his absence is due to personal reasons. Recently, Suryakumar has become a father and to spend time with his family, he will join the team later. India’s T20 captain Suryakumar took charge of the team in Hardik’s absence. Earlier, on the day of the match played in Raipur on 10th May, Suryakumar had joined the team directly on the day of the match and it is believed that this time also he can reach Dharamshala later in the same manner.

Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2026 campaign is almost over now. The team is at ninth place in the points table with just three wins in 11 matches and is out of the race for the playoffs. Now, apart from Punjab Kings, Mumbai has to play its remaining matches against Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals.
