Ben Stokes, the captain of the England Test team and considered among the best fast bowling all-rounder players in world cricket at present, is currently out of the squad due to a controversy. The England team was easily successful in winning the three-match home Test series against New Zealand under the captaincy of Stokes. After the end of this match, Ben Stokes was dropped from the England team for the second test due to going to a nightclub and the dispute there and this matter is still under investigation. Meanwhile, Stokes can now be seen in action in the County Championship in which he has been included in Durham’s squad for the match against Northamptonshire at Chester-le-Street.

After the end of the Lord’s Test against New Zealand, Ben Stokes and his fellow fast bowler Gus Atkinson defied the midnight curfew and went to a nightclub with Saracens rugby club player Totoa Auwa, where according to reports Auwa punched an England and Wales Cricket Board security officer who was present with Stokes and Atkinson. The investigation into this matter is still going on, due to which both Stokes and Atkinson have been kept out of the squad for the second Test match being played between England and New Zealand, in which Joe Root has been given the responsibility of captaincy in place of Stokes.
Now Stokes will play county match amid investigation
In the current season of the County Championship, Ben Stokes can be seen playing his third match, in which he played 2 matches before the start of the Test series against New Zealand. Durham have included Ben Stokes in their 15-man squad announced for the match against Northamptonshire starting on June 19 at Chester-le-Street, in which he can be seen playing under the captaincy of Alex Lees. Durham has currently scored 126 points in the County Championship Division 2 points table from 7 matches in which they have not lost a single match.
