A shocking incident has come to light from Mahadevapura in Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru. In Maheshwari Nagar here, a neighbor’s pet dog of Rottweiler breed brutally attacked an innocent 12-year-old child. The incident took place on June 13 at around 2:30 pm. There is a lot of anger among the people of the area after this attack.
The victim child is the son of an ex-serviceman. He has been admitted to the hospital. It is alleged that the dog’s owners issued threats to prevent the victim’s family from going to the police. Police have registered a case against the dog’s owner Shyam and his wife Vijayalakshmi in this matter.
Attack on a child riding a bicycle
According to the complaint lodged with the police by the boy’s father, the 12-year-old minor was riding a bicycle peacefully on the road outside his house. At the same time, the gate of the neighbor’s house was left open. Suddenly, an aggressive black Rottweiler dog came out of the unclosed gate and pounced straight on the boy.
The dog bit the child badly and immediately ran back inside his house. Frightened by the attack, the child lost control of his bicycle and fell on the road, due to which he suffered serious injuries and scratches at many places on his body. Hearing the screams of the child, the local people immediately gathered at the spot and took the injured child to the hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
Threatened the victim’s family instead of admitting their mistake
The situation became tense when the victim’s parents questioned Shyam and Vijayalakshmi. Parents asked why the dangerous animal was let loose, when the government has strict rules that large and dangerous breeds like Rottweilers must be muzzled and kept within secure boundaries.
But instead of expressing regret, the dog’s owner was reportedly filled with anger. He began shouting at the victim’s parents, falsely claiming that the child had provoked the dog, and bluntly warned them that they would face “serious consequences” if they tried to file a formal police complaint.
Police have issued notices to Shyam and Vijayalakshmi and directed them to appear. Also, a letter has been written to GBA asking for their report on the guidelines issued for Rottweiler owners.
