The dead body was taken out illegally
Where two brothers took out the body of their dead mother illegally from their farming land and tried to take it away on a motorcycle late at night. Police doing night patrolling in Davanagere city stopped both of them.
Mother died in April 2026
According to the FIR, Eramma (58) died three months ago. An unnatural death report (UDR No. 20/2026, under section 194(3)(iv) of BNSS) was registered at Malebennur police station on April 29, 2026. After the post-mortem examination, the police handed over his body to his son Manjunatha for last rites. He was then buried at his family farm in Adhapura village while the police’s UDR investigation was underway.

Between 9:00 pm and 11:30 pm on July 18, 2026, both sons Manjunatha and his elder brother Venkatesha took out their mother’s buried body without permission. They placed the body on the motorcycle and started taking it towards Davanagere.
The body was sent to the mortuary
At around 11 pm, police officers doing night patrolling in Davangere city became suspicious of people carrying a dead body on a motorcycle and stopped them. The police immediately took possession of the body and sent it to the mortuary of Chigatari General Hospital (CG Hospital), Davangere.

According to sources, head constable Shantrajkumar has lodged a formal complaint. It said that the accused were illegally exhuming the body and taking it to another place with the aim of destroying evidence related to the ongoing UDR investigation. Malebennur police have registered a case against the two brothers and have started a thorough investigation into the matter.
