SC raised questions on investigation in Ram temple donation case, suggested forming a new SIT


During the hearing of the alleged irregularities related to Ram temple donation, the Supreme Court questioned the Uttar Pradesh government on the current system of investigation. The court said that if the SIT was only conducting preliminary investigationSo now a separate SIT can be formed to investigate the entire matter.

Know what the Solicitor General said

During the hearing, the Solicitor General told the court that the work of the SIT formed earlier was only to see whether any cognizable offense was made out in the case or not. The SIT said in its report that the case constitutes a registerable offence, after which an FIR has been registered.

New SIT should be formed for investigation

He clarified that the present SIT itself is not investigating. On this, the Supreme Court asked whether a separate SIT has been formed for investigation. When the reply was received that it was not so, the court suggested that a new SIT be formed to investigate. At the same time, the Supreme Court will now hear this case next Monday.

Investigation should be done under the leadership of senior IPS officer

The court today said that the earlier SIT included the Commissioner of Lucknow, the Special Secretary of the Finance Department and a senior IPS officer of Lucknow. The Supreme Court suggested that now the entire matter should be investigated by forming a new SIT under the leadership of the same senior IPS officer.

This issue should not be politicized

During the hearing, the Chief Justice (CJI) said that the court is proceeding very cautiously in this case. He said that this issue should not be politicized. The court only wants that the investigation should be completed properly and a logical outcome of the case should emerge.

Take instructions from Uttar Pradesh government and tell the court – CJI

The Supreme Court asked the Solicitor General to take instructions from the Uttar Pradesh government on this suggestion and inform the court. However, at present the Supreme Court has not issued any final order or direction in this matter.
