Shimla: President Draupadi Murmu is visiting Shimla from April 27 to May 2, so for these six days the President’s office will be shifted from Delhi to Shimla. One reason for this is that the official residence of the President is outside Delhi only in Shimla and Hyderabad. Himachal government has almost completed all the preparations for the President’s visit. During the six-day stay of President Draupadi Murmu, all the important files of Rashtrapati Bhavan will be brought here and the President’s Secretariat will operate from Shimla for six days.
The building is made of wood and mud
Let us tell you that there are only three presidential residences in the country. The oldest presidential residence among them is in Mashobra, Shimla. Formerly it was also called The Retreat. It is situated in the serene picturesque hills of Mashobra, 12 km from Shimla. Rashtrapati Niwas Mashobra is more than 175 years old. Its construction style is that of mud construction. There are wooden and mud walls here. The specialty of this construction style is that even earthquakes have no effect on buildings built in this style. This adobe style building remains cool in summer and warm in winter.
The building is the center of attraction
The official residence of the President of the country located in Mashobra has many attractions. There is a beautiful apple orchard here. There are more than three hundred apple plants in this garden. There are also foreign varieties of these plants. There is a magnificent tulip garden here. Three years ago, in the month of April itself, President Draupadi Murmu had inaugurated this tulip garden. Beautiful tulip flowers of varieties like Denmark, Valemark, Jumbopik etc. are in bloom here. The beautiful decoration of the inner rooms here is worth seeing. There is a separate room for the President. There is a beautiful kingdom of greenery around the entire building. A 360 degree view of the surroundings is visible from here.
In view of the President’s visit, the President’s residence Mashobra is currently closed for tourists. Now it will open from May 3 after the completion of the President’s visit. Let us tell you here that Rashtrapati Niwas Mashobra was opened for the general public and tourists three years ago on the instructions of the present President.
