A case of theft has come to light from Rourkela city of Odisha, which has shocked people. In the Jagannath temple located in Uditnagar, a thief bowed to the Lord before committing theft and then targeted the donation boxes of the temple and ran away with the cash. The video of this entire incident has been captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the temple.

According to the information, this incident happened around 4 am in the morning of June 1. CCTV footage shows a man entering the temple premises. After entering the temple, he first goes to the Arun Pillar and salutes the Lord. After this he also goes to the place of Lord Shiva located in the temple premises and bows his head.
Money taken out by breaking 2 donation boxes
It can be seen further in the video that after paying obeisance, the thief starts carrying out his real purpose. He first pulls the donation box kept outside the temple and takes it away from there. It is being told that he took the donation box to a place behind the temple, where the CCTV cameras were not in direct view. There he broke the donation box and took out the cash kept in it. Even after this the thief did not stop. He entered inside by damaging the door leading to the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. They also took possession of the second donation box kept there and stole money from it. In this way the thief targeted the donation boxes both inside and outside the temple.
When the temple priest arrived in the morning, he saw the broken condition of the donation boxes. After this there was a commotion in the temple premises and CCTV footage was examined. The entire incident was clearly visible in the footage.

What did the police tell about the thief?
After getting information about the incident, the temple management informed the Uditnagar police station. After receiving the information, the police started investigating the case. Preliminary investigation revealed that there was less than Rs 5,000 in cash in the donation boxes, hence no FIR was registered. During interrogation it was also speculated that the mental condition of the person who entered the temple might not be normal. However, the police is engaged in a detailed investigation of the case and is probing all aspects of the incident.
