Coffee Par Kurukshetra: Who is providing ‘intelligence input’ to Rahul Gandhi? see discussion

New Delhi: India TV’s program “Coffee on Kurukshetra” saw a discussion on the recent statement of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, June 4. Rahul Gandhi has claimed that the economic crisis in the country may soon deepen, dissatisfaction is increasing within government institutions and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will no longer be in office within the next one year. Pradeep Singh and Ajit Dwivedi were present as guests in the discussion along with the show’s anchor and India TV Senior Executive Editor Saurav Sharma and India TV Political Editor Devendra Parashar.

Discussion on claim of economic tsunami

Rahul Gandhi said the country was heading towards a “terrible economic tsunami”. He alleged that the government had weakened the safety nets that protected India from international economic shocks. He also said that he is getting inside information from some senior people of the Election Commission, intelligence agencies and the judiciary and there is growing discontent against the government within these institutions.

On India TV’s program Koffee, senior journalists and political analysts present in Kurukshetra questioned Rahul Gandhi’s claims and said that if such a big rebellion is really taking place in government institutions, then there should be some concrete signs of it. He said that elections are being held continuously in the country and there is no indication in their results that any major mass movement or rebellion has arisen against the government.

Challenges before the government?

Political analysts say that in any system there are people with different views and some people can also give information to political parties. But Rahul Gandhi’s claim of getting information directly from the Chief Election Commissioner and heads of intelligence agencies is quite serious and it is natural to raise questions on it.

Economic issues were also debated during the discussion. The panelists acknowledged that both the country and the world are facing economic challenges. Growing global uncertainty, tensions in West Asia and investment-related issues are impacting the economy. However, experts believe that calling these challenges an “economic tsunami” may be an exaggeration.

errors in examinations

Issues related to youth were also discussed in the programme. Referring to the irregularities in NEET, CUET and other examinations, it was said that there is definitely dissatisfaction among students and parents. The panelists believed that the government should not just take immediate steps to address these problems, but also work on long-term and structural reforms.

The possibility of imposing emergency was discussed

There was also discussion on Rahul Gandhi expressing fear of possible imposition of emergency. The panelists said that the rules for imposing emergency in the current constitutional system are much stricter than before. He reminded that the circumstances of the Emergency of 1975 were different and the same situation is not visible in today’s time.

At the end of the discussion, the panelists were of the opinion that there are economic, social and administrative challenges before the government, but some of the claims made by Rahul Gandhi are very big and extraordinary, in support of which no concrete evidence has yet come forward publicly. At the same time, it was also believed that the job of the opposition in a democracy is to ask questions of the government and raise public issues, but it is also necessary to prove such claims on the basis of facts.
