After Janeu, now controversy over nose ring, tape put on nose of girl students in CET exam

The uproar that arose after the prohibition of sacred thread in the Common Entrance Test had not yet subsided that now problems arose due to the wearing of nose rings by girl students. However, the girl students were not asked to remove their nose studs, rather adhesive tape was put on them. This step was taken after many girl students entered the examination center wearing nose rings.

What was the rule?

In fact, many girl students who came to appear for the Common Entrance Test at MES College in Chikmagalur came in the way of the strict rules of the examination because of their nose ring. The organizers of CET had clarified that wearing any kind of metal object or jewelery is prohibited in the examination hall. This rule has been implemented for security reasons and was informed to the students in advance. However, this rule became a problem for many girl students as they came wearing nose rings and were not given the option to remove them.

Meanwhile, the examination center staff came up with a temporary solution for the girl students. Instead of removing the jewellery, adhesive tape was simply placed on the student’s nose ring, which also complied with the safety rules and allowed the students to appear for the examination.

Metal-free policy was already decided

Some people are questioning the move, but officials say this “metal-free” policy was set in advance, and they expected all students to take the exam knowing it. Despite this, many girl students and their parents considered the move a natural and sensible move, while some expressed disagreement with it.

The police also kept a strict vigil regarding the security arrangements during the examination, and the college administration implemented this process very seriously.
