Delhi Smart ration cards with QR code will soon be issued. These smart ration cards will be equipped with advanced digital capabilities, which will be more transparent and user friendly. On Monday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta directed officials to issue new smart cards. Along with this, the Chief Minister also announced to organize weekly complaint camps from May 1 to solve the problems related to ration cards on the spot. According to an official statement, Rekha Gupta chaired the meeting of the Food and Supplies Department. In this meeting, a thorough review was done on various issues related to departmental functioning, implementation of schemes, technical reforms and public service.
Grievance Redressal Camp will be organized every Saturday from 1st May
In an important directive, the Chief Minister announced that ‘Public Grievance Redressal Camps’ will be organized at all designated centers on every Saturday from 9 am to 11 am from May 1. “To ensure accountability, these camps will be organized in the presence of assistant commissioners and all pending complaints related to ration cards will be resolved on the spot,” according to the official statement. The statement said the chief minister will conduct surprise visits to select camps to verify whether complaints are being addressed appropriately.
New applications will be invited soon
According to the statement, “Officials have also been asked to use these camps to raise awareness about the ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme by clearly stating that beneficiaries can collect ration from only one place at a time.” To increase transparency in the system, the Chief Minister has proposed to form a special committee to select new beneficiaries. The Chief Minister directed that new applications should be invited as soon as possible so that no eligible person is left out.
Strict action will be taken against guilty dealers and suppliers
The Chief Minister expressed strong displeasure over the irregularities in ration distribution such as giving less items, delays and cuts. According to the statement, “The Chief Minister directed that clear responsibility should be fixed on both dealers and suppliers and strict action should be taken against the culprits.” It said that in the direction of technological improvement, the Chief Minister has given instructions to issue new smart ration cards and these cards will be equipped with new design, QR code and modern digital features, which will make ration distribution more transparent and easier for the people.
