Similarly, when the market cap of companies falls, the wealth of investors investing in those companies also decreases. Therefore, last week there was a huge increase in the wealth of investors of Bharti Airtel and Bajaj Finance. On the other hand, there has been a big decline in the net worth of investors of Larsen & Toubro and Reliance.
Last week an increase of 0.86 percent was recorded in Sensex.
Last week, the BSE Sensex index had closed 663.44 points or 0.86% higher. Whereas, an increase of 214.85 points (0.89 percent) was recorded in the NSE Nifty 50 index. The companies whose market cap increased last week include the names of Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), HDFC Bank and Hindustan Unilever. On the other hand, the market cap of Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Reliance Industries, State Bank of India (SBI) and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) declined.
Highest increase in market cap of Bharti Airtel
During this period, the market cap of the country’s leading telecom company Bharti Airtel recorded the highest increase of Rs 36,529.21 crore and it increased to Rs 11,63,877.30 crore. Let us tell you that last week Bharti Airtel had suffered the maximum loss and two weeks ago, the maximum increase of Rs 52,433 crore was recorded in the market cap of Bharti Airtel. Besides, Bajaj Finance’s valuation increased by Rs 33,059.83 crore, taking its market cap to Rs 6,43,141.36 crore.
Valuation of ICICI Bank, LIC also increased
ICICI Bank’s market cap rose by Rs 16,084.29 crore to Rs 10,11,695.03 crore and LIC’s valuation rose by Rs 8,601.99 crore to Rs 5,44,139.55 crore. HDFC Bank’s market cap rose by Rs 7,664.89 crore to Rs 12,33,646.33 crore and Hindustan Unilever’s market value rose by Rs 6,461.38 crore to Rs 5,17,086.30 crore.
Heavy loss to Larsen and Toubro
However, Larsen & Toubro’s market cap fell by Rs 26,572.2 crore to Rs 5,53,978.63 crore. The market cap of Reliance Industries declined by Rs 18,945.56 crore and dropped to Rs 17,64,981.36 crore. The market cap of State Bank of India declined by Rs 4,846.08 crore to Rs 9,59,891.92 crore and the market valuation of TCS declined by Rs 1,031.15 crore to Rs 7,57,175.27 crore.
