The foundation stone of India’s ambitious Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project was laid on Friday in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh. This project is considered to give new heights to India’s defense capability. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh were present in the program. This project is being considered a big step towards India’s Self-reliant India Mission.
The AMCA project will be developed at a cost of approximately ₹15,803 crore. This is a very important project for India’s indigenous defense and aerospace sector. The government believes that this will strengthen high-tech defense manufacturing in the country and develop new technologies in the defense sector. This project is expected to provide employment to about 7,500 people. This will also create new job opportunities at the local level.
What is AMCA program?
AMCA i.e. Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft is India’s next generation indigenous stealth fighter jet program. Its objective is to provide advanced fighter aircraft equipped with modern technology to the Indian Air Force. This fighter jet will be equipped with modern stealth technology, advanced weapon systems and high-speed capability. According to experts, this will increase the strength of the Indian Air Force manifold.
Many more projects started under Drone City Initiative
Along with the AMCA project, several other defense projects were also launched under the Drone City Initiative. Their objective is to promote drone technology and advanced defense systems in India. The government wants India to create a strong identity at the global level in the field of defense technology and drone manufacturing in the future.
Defense exhibition attracted attention
During the programme, the Defense Minister and other leaders also inspected a defense exhibition. Many models and equipment related to modern defense technology, drone systems and aerospace were displayed in it.
